In July, the Ural Federal University welcomed international students from Egypt, Yemen, Colombia, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Georgia, China, India and other countries for a short-term educational program within the framework of the “Summer University” project.
300 participants came to Ekaterinburg to get acquainted with Russia and its education. They were trained in 12 educational areas most in demand in the modern world, related to digitalization and information technologies in such fields as social design, media, economics and business. The defense of the student projects will take place on July 21.
In total, more than 1,200 students from 25 countries are participating in the project, includung students from Ural Federal University, Siberian Federal University and Kazan Federal University. They learned the basics of project work and listened to experts in their professional tracks.
“I was born in Sichuan Province and now I study in Beijing. I liked Ekaterinburg as a city to live in. The people here are very open, especially the volunteers. I like the university. The staff is very hardworking, intelligent and smart. Many of them speak several languages, while in China most people only speak Chinese and English. Russian language is too difficult for us, it is hard to learn…. What I liked the most was the opening ceremony. The rector of the university said very important things, talented people performed on the stage. I saw how friendly Ekaterinburg is to its guests, and feel very happy about it,” said Wang Xiaowei, a participant of the project.
We would like to remind you that the opening ceremony at UrFU began with a plenary discussion “International Youth Cooperation in Intercultural Dialogue”, where the importance of the project for effective international youth interaction and the issue of adaptation of foreign students in Russian universities were discussed.
“The Summer University allowed international students to gain valuable knowledge and skills. It is also a great opportunity to expand cultural horizons and strengthen international cooperation. The admission of international students is one of the priority areas of our university development, and we do our best to ensure their comfortable stay and study at UrFU. We provide them with the necessary support and help in adapting to the new environment, organize language courses, cultural events, provide comfortable living conditions. Most importantly, we provide them with quality higher education to build a successful career. The students of the “Summer University” got acquainted with the educational programs, faculty and infrastructure of the university. All this allows them to get the necessary knowledge, to do science, to realize themselves in creativity, sports, maximizing their talents. Our guests from other countries were able to see for themselves the wide range of opportunities that the university has” said Victor Koksharov, the rector.
The participants of the Summer University visited many interesting places, for example, they went to the border of two parts of the world and looked at the “Europe-Asia” stele.
Also they visited international exhibition “Innoprom” and got acquainted with the most important issues of modern industry in various fields: Automation and Robotics, Digital Manufacturing, Transport Engineering and many others.
