As a part of “World Heart Day”, an Intervention Programme for Cardiovascular Diseases was organized by Department of Home Science of SDNB Vaishnav College. Dr. V. Varalakshmi, Principal, SDNB Vaishnav College inaugurated the program.
The entire program was divided into four sessions on topics like “Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Nutrition and Lifestyle Challenges, Heart Attack Prevention and Cure by Positive Life Style and Positive Thinking and Healthy Eating and Adequate Exercising.
Prof Dr. V. Chokalingam, Professor Emeritus Cardiology, Dr.MGR Medical University, Dr. Priya Chokalingam, General Physician, Founder & Clinical Director at Cardiac Wellness Institute, Dr. Sheba Sangeetha Jeyaraj, Asst. Prof., Dept. Of Home Science, WCC College, and Dr. Dharini Krishnan, Consultant Dietitian, Laksha Hospital were the guest speakers for the day.
The program enlightened on the risk factors that cause cardiovascular diseases and other non-communicable diseases in young people. The importance of exercise and physical activities were also emphasized. Knowledge about the disease prevalence rate in our country and possible preventive measures and dietary pattern to lead a healthy life was also shared.
