Interventional Radiology workshop held at J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University

Aligarh: The department of Radiodiagnosis, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a continuing medical education (CME) cum hands-on Training workshop on “interventional radiology for beginners”. Dr Shams Iqbal, an JNMC alumnus and presently working as an Interventional Radiologist in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston , USA was the international resource person.

Addressing the participants, Dr Shams Iqbal discussed the widely used applications of the new sub-specialty which helps the patients through minimally invasive methods and most of the patients can go home same day after treatment.

Prof Shahid Siddiqui, Principal and CMS, JNMC and Prof Mohd Khalid, Chairman, department of Radiodiagnosis welcomed the guest speaker while Dr Mehtab Ahmad, who conducted the CME, shed light on the objective of the programme.

During the CME, orientation sessions and demonstration of complicated procedure under the guidance of CT scan and ultrasound experts were held with the cooperation of Department of Cardiology. The workshop also witnessed several complicated and advanced procedures like Balloon dilatation of Renal artery narrowing, bronchialartery embolization for lung bleed, chemoembolisation of tumours, USG guided and CT guided minimal invasive biopsies and variety of other procedures meant for the resident doctors.
