Investor Awareness Programme Empowers Students at AMU

 

Aligarh : The Department of Economics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in partnership with Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), recently conducted an Investor Awareness Programme (IAP). The primary objective of the event was to provide education on the complexities of the financial market to undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members.

Led by Mr. Alok Gautam, Assistant Manager at CDSL, and Dr. Akeeelur Rehman, Programme Coordinator, the sessions delved into crucial topics including risk management, investment dynamics, and the benefits of participating in the capital market. Participants gained insights into diverse investment opportunities, current financial market policies, and schemes available for investors.

Mr. Gautam emphasized the prospects of investing in mutual funds, diversification strategies, and the advantages offered by Mutual Fund Asset Management Companies. Attendees were also provided with informative booklets titled ‘Securities Market – Understanding from Investors Perspective’, printed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Chairman of the department, Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi and Convener Prof. SM Jawed Akhtar commended the speakers for sharing valuable insights. Prof. Akhtar emphasized the importance of such initiatives in equipping students to tackle financial management challenges they may face in their careers.

The interactive session facilitated an exchange of ideas, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers. Over 135 individuals attended the programme.

Dr. Shirin Rais who conducted the proceedings informed that the participants will receive certificates from CDSL.
