Iranian Government honours AMU faculty with Sa’adi Award
ALIGARH : Prof S M Asad Ali Khurshid (Former Chairman, Department of Persian and Former Director, Institute of Persian Research, AMU) has been awarded with the Sa’adi Award of the Government of Iran in the prestigious 8th Sa’adi Award Ceremony, held at Iran Culture House, the Embassy of Iran, New Delhi. Mr Ali Chegani, Ambassador of Iran to India honored Prof Asad with the prestigious award.
Prof Asad has been honored with the award for his academic contributions to Persian language and literature. He has authored 21 books and his more than 50 research papers have been published in the national and international academic journals. He was also awarded with the Young Scholars’ Presidential Award, Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman in 2009 by the then President of India.
Dr Ali Rabbani, Cultural Counsellor of Iran, Dr Ehsanullah Shokrullahi, Director, Persian Research Centre, Iran Cultural House, Prof Kazim Kehdoi, University of Yezd, Iran, Prof Mortoza Mohseni, Prof Azarmi Dukht Safavi and other eminent scholars and dignitaries also present on the occasion.
