IRF & PVR cinemas join hands to collaborate and work together to promote and improve road safety scenarios in the country.

New Delhi : India Chapter of the International Road Federation (IRF) a global road safety body working for better and safer roads has joined hands with PVR INOX, the largest and the most premium cinema exhibitor in India under the ‘Forum for coalition of public -private partners in road safety’  to collaborate and work together to promote and improve road safety scenarios in the country.

As per the collaborating agreement between IRF and  PVR nest more than 1700 PVR cinemas across the nation will screen the road safety anthem and a film ‘Rehana’ produced by IRF based on the theme of quickly shifting the accident victim to the hospital instead of making video of the victim  produced by IRF. These reels will be shown in PVR cinemas from January 19 til January 25, 2024 .

“We have joined hands with the PVR cinema group under a ‘Forum for coalition of public -private partners in road safety’ which was signed with various corporates and NGO’s to collaborate and work together to promote and improve road safety scenarios in the country. The  ‘Forum for Coalition of Public-Private Partners in Road Safety” was launched under the umbrella of International Road Federation (IRF) India Chapter  in the presence of Mr. Jean Todt, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety a few months back” said Mr K K Kapila, President Emeritus , International Road Federation (IRF) speaking on the occasion

“As per the coalition  agreement all partners will work towards road safety as  a shared responsibility and commit to actively contribute to the improvement of road safety. Partners agree to collect and analyze accurate and reliable data on road accidents, injuries, and fatalities to identify trends, risk factors, and areas of improvement. Partners commit to raising public awareness about road safety through educational campaigns, training programs, and dissemination of information on safe driving practices.” Said Mr Kapila

“PVR INOX, the largest and the most premium cinema exhibitor in India as part of the coalition partnership with International Road Federation (India Chapter) will launch its various initiatives to make its employees and consumers aware of the importance of Road Safety. Besides making road safety an integral part of its training program, a Public Service Awareness (PSA) film will be  being screened in its theatres across India. These initiatives form a part of its commitment of working towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)  Target 3.6 set by the United Nations that aims to reduce global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by half by 2030. “ said Ms Deepa Menon, SVP Corp Comm. & CSR, PVR INOX speaking on the occasion .

The partner in the coalition agreement include MoRT&H, Maruti Suzuki India , Military Engineering Services (MES) ,AIIMS, 3M India, World Bank, PVR, DRDO, Motolance, Netradyne, Avery, Dennison, MBM university, Grandpitstop, Intel Technology, CRRI,

About 150 employees of PVR cinemas were also provided training for road safety and for  improving emergency response systems to ensure timely and effective medical assistance to accident victims.

Training Module titled, ‘Road Safety = My Safety’ comprises a checklist to keep safe from accidents for Pedestrians, 2-Wheeler Users, 4-Wheeler Users, Understanding Road Signs, actions to take in case of Accident and lifesavers to avoid accidents. Making Road Safety an integral part of its training curriculum, PVR INOX has included the module on educating its operational staff about the perils of reckless and irresponsible driving on its Springboard LXP (learning experience platform) both via Mobile & Web.
