ISBF Concludes First Leg of its Careers Workshop for Class XII Students

New Delhi: Indian School of Business & Finance (ISBF), New Delhi, a leading institute in Economics, Finance and Management in India providing international degrees from reputed foreign Universities for over a decade, concluded the first leg of its first-ever immersive summer workshop, iAspire, for current and graduated class XII students.

The workshop series, which will witness illustrious industry veterans including the likes of Dr. Rajat Kathuria, Nikhil Arora, Deep Kalra, and Dr. James Abdey from LSE, has been modelled into a 16-hour contact programme spread over the first two weekends of July (4th & 5th July 2020 and 11th & 12th July 2020).

The first 8 hours of the workshop had over 40 students from top schools across the country participate in webinars hosted by the distinguished ISBF faculty and eminent industry speakers, including Pallavi Malani, Managing Partner and Director, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Pranay Agarwal, Equity Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs India, who delivered interactive sessions on consulting and financial services as career paths.

During his session, Mr. Pranay Agarwal, also an ISBF-alumnus, talked about his experience in the Financial Services sector and iterated on “different jobs and functions and roles like investment banking, investment management, corporate finance, wealth management, etc, that fall within the ambit of financial services.”

In one of the most anticipated sessions of the iAspire series, Pallavi Malani offered students an opportunity to gain invaluable insights into the world and workings of management consulting as a career and what to expect from the domain. “Providing Management Consultancy on critical issues to businesses and Government is nearly analogous to the sharing of advice on intricate matters shared with family and friends,” remarked Ms Malani, capturing the undivided attention of the participants.

In the last session of the day, Navni Kothari and Sahil Arora, both Assistant Professors of Economics at ISBF, introduced students to ‘Essential Tools to Maximise Productivity’. The session, as titled, focused on productivity tools and exposed students to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with deep-diving into the features of some of Google’s offerings – Docs, Sheets, Keep, Calendar – and the intricacies of email writing to yield maximum efficiency. Prof Arora also shone some light on tools available to participants for the purpose of research, academics, and simplification of large sets of complicated data tables, which are the backbone of a career in economics.

The coming weekend (July 11 & 12, 2020) of iAspire has an exciting array of illuminary industry experts lined up – Mr. Deep Kalra, Founder & CEO of MakeMyTrip, Mr. Nikhil Arora, MD and Vice President, GoDaddy, Mr. Rajat Kathuria, Director and Chief Executive, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and Mr. Vikas Newatia, CEO, Royal and Sun Alliance India – who will lead sessions on a wide range of topics including policymaking, development sector, marketing, entrepreneurship, actuarial science and academia.
