ISM JK celebrates Dhanwantri Jayanti

 

Jammu: Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education participated in the celebrations of Dhanwantri Jayanti being celebrated by the Directorate of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy, Jammu and Kashmir which also marked the 5th National Ayurveda Day. The theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day was ‘Role of Ayurveda in the management of COVID-19.’

The FC who was Chief Guest on the occasion said that the Ayurvedic System of medicine has been quite effective in the management of COVID-19 and the drugs have been in high demand in boosting the immunity. He said that the Ayurvedic system focuses on preventive and promotion of health and has long term benefits with no side effects adding that the chronic ailments are best handled by the Ayurvedic system.

The FC said that under National Ayush Mission a number of HWCs are being remodelled and upgraded.

Principal Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Jammu, Dr Shahsi Sudan emphasised the need for raising and strengthening the Ayurvedic System of Medicines.

Director, ISM, Dr. Mohan Singh in his keynote address said that principle of Ayurveda is prevention of disease and promotion of health. He also said that there is a need for convergence with the education department and Integrated Child Development Services for information dissemination about the benefits of Ayurveda.

Director ISM also said that there is a need to organise public outreach camps so that more people will come to know about the Ayurvedic system and that will in turn increase the footfall in the dispensaries. He also thanked the FC for his support in the promotion of Ayurvedic system and resolving the issues faced by them. He also said that the Ayurveda protocol will be immensely beneficial to the public by offering easily accessible options for better management of COVID-19.
