ISM organises Sensitization programme for Health Workers in Bandipora

Bandipora: Indian System of Medicines (ISM) on Saturday organised a day-long sensitization programme for Health workers regarding Ayush Health and Wellness Centers and ISM as alternate system of medicines.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad was the Chief Guest while Director ISM Dr Mohan Singh was also present on the occasion.
The DC highlighted the importance of the alternative medicines and also informed the participants about the role of the AYUSH system of medicines in the prevention and treatment of various diseases.
He said that several Wellness Centers have been established across the district and appreciated the department for doing a commendable job in improving rural healthcare.
The DC said that activities are being taken up under flagship program ‘National AYUSH Mission and also talked about establishment of health and wellness centers in J&K to reach out to the people living in remote areas.
The DC appreciated the services of ISM doctors posted in far flung, remote and inaccessible areas for their commendable job and maintained that attempts are being made to mainstream this health system for its holistic approach to treat a patient.
He also provided 50 beds, bed-size lockers and bedding for the wellness centres and also assured every possible support to ISM in establishing more wellness centres in the district.
He urged the health workers to take the AYUSH system to people in a missionary mode so that its benefits can percolate to people especially to those living in far-flung and inaccessible areas.
Nodal Officer Indian System of Medicines, Dr. Iftikhar gave details about the achievements of AYUSH Mission during this fiscal year, he said that there is a tremendous response from the people to avail the benefits of AYUSH system of treatment.
Director ISM Dr Mohan said there are four wellness centres in the district and said that four more wellness centres will come up in the district keeping in view the best performance of these centres and the demand of the public.
He also highlighted the achievements of the directorate of ISM and informed the gathering that new activities are being taken up under flagship program ‘National AYUSH Mission’.
Deputy Director ISM Dr Syed Gh Hyder Shah, Assistant Director ISM and Nodal Officer ISM Bandipora were among others present at the event.
