IT Firm ‘Kilowott’ collaborates with St. Xavier’s College on Digital Marketing Course
Panaji: Kilowott, one of Goa’s leading IT firms has collaborated with St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa to provide an intensive, virtual course on Digital Marketing, which has emerged as a key job-acquiring skill in the current employment market.
The syllabus of the specially curated course breaks down digital marketing and basic strategies related to the domain in easy-to-understand modules for students. The syllabus is tailored to suit various employment opportunities to second-year students of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department at St. Xavier’s College.
The one-year course, curated by Kilowott’s Associate Project Manager Mark Rocha is being conducted via Google Hangouts. The course introduces students to traditional and non-traditional career options, while educating them in theoretical and practical aspects of various topics pertaining to Digital Marketing and Management through use of a variety of online tools to ensure maximum engagement.
“I use Google Jamboard as a virtual whiteboard and Google Classroom to collate assignments. I think when doing a course on Digital Marketing, it’s important to make the maximum use of online tools,” says Rocha.
The goal of the course is to ensure that students are equipped with hands-on knowledge and experience in the four main verticals of Digital Marketing, namely developing a basic Digital Marketing strategy; getting students career-ready in a range of Digital Marketing aspects, familiarising students with Digital Marketing campaigns for promoting businesses and enabling them to spot good practices adopted by Digital Marketing agencies, in order to help them hire suitable agencies for their campaigns as Digital Marketing professionals in the future.
Vanessa Furtado, Head of Department of St. Xavier’s College’s Mass Communication and Journalism Department stated: “We included the session with the aim of offering students an opportunity to make informed career choices based on personal talents and skills rather than traditional career choices. We are delighted to be partnering with Kilowott on this module.”
The IT firm is open to hiring students who have attended the virtual course as interns once they have graduated the following year if vacancies exist.
