ITI in Odisha develops mobile kiosk for sample collection

A team of skilled technicians of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here has developed a walk-in kiosk to collect swab samples for testing patients showing symptoms of coronavirus.

The kiosk is a mobile cubicle with a sealed glass cabin which comes with a pair of gloves attached to it in the front through which the doctor or health worker can collect samples of a suspected patient. The structure is supported with four wheels at the base.

The swab collections can be done without direct sun exposure and contact. After the samples are collected, the gloves will be sanitised from outside. The kiosk will be able to conduct more tests in less time.

Inspired by the model adopted in South Korea to collect the samples of Covid-19 patients, the ITI team has developed this kiosk.
