ITMO’s Joint Launches Double-Degree Program in Photonics

Students of the Master’s program at ITMO University will now gain the opportunity to study simultaneously at ITMO and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). Upon graduation, the students will receive diplomas from both institutions.

A student of ITMO’s Research and Educational Center for Photonics and Optoinformatics works with a quantum communications system.

This September, a competition will be held among the students of the Applied Photonics program. Its five winners will get to study according to a personalized curriculum that would combine studies at both ITMO and Skoltech.

These students will divide their time equally between the two institutions, conducting research as part of two scientific teams at once. They will also receive a stipend upwards of 40,000 rubles from Skoltech.

According to the authors of this initiative, it will allow students to gain unique experience while opening up new avenues for joint R&D projects.
