J.N. Medical College observes Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Week
ALIGARH : The Department of Plastic Surgery, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a series of events under its plastic and reconstructive surgery week, marking the World Plastic Surgery Day, themed as “Transforming Lives, Restoring Hopes”.
The week-long events will conclude on July 15, the World Plastic Surgery Day.
Prof. Imran Ahmad conducted a special OPD at the Cleft Care and Hand Clinic focusing on diverse issues such as wound care, burns and burn care, congenital anomalies and clefts, hand surgeries, aesthetic surgeries, and cancer reconstruction. He emphasized the importance of timing of surgeries in the congenital anomalies.
Dr. Sheikh Sarfraz Ali organized a special OPD on cosmetic / aesthetic surgery and reconstruction in post tumour exenteration surgeries.
Dr. Mohd. Fahud Khurram, Chairperson of the Department, during an interaction with the patients, stressed the importance of choosing the right doctor for their medical conditions.
He emphasized the significance of the day, adding that the Plastic Surgery Week is not just about showcasing advancements, it is about making a real impact on people’s lives. Our efforts in OPDs and outreach activities underscore our commitment to community health.
Dr Khurram said that throughout the week, educational workshops and seminars were organized, furthering the community understanding of plastic surgery, dispelling myths and promoting informed healthcare decisions. A large number of patients were provided consultation and minor procedures and timely follow-up sessions were conducted during the week, he added.
A comprehensive outreach programme at the Rural Health Training Centre, Jawan was held to deliver essential plastic surgery services to underserved local population, under the management of Prof. Saira Mehnaz, Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Uzma Eram, Nodal Officer and Dr. Tabassum Nawab.
Dr. Tabassum highlighted the importance of accessibility to plastic surgery services in remote areas and emphasized the educational aspect of the outreach.
