Jaipur Rugs extends support to artisans during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

Bengaluru   : As the country continues to grapple with the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, brands are increasingly extending support to COVID-19 relief efforts. For years, the Jaipur Rugs Foundation, has been relentlessly working towards enhancing the livelihood of artisans in the country. Staying true to its commitment to build an ecosystem that empowers rural India, Jaipur Rugs has collaborated with an NGO ‘Creative Dignity’ to extend support to the artisans during these troubled times.

Jaipur Rugs Foundation along with the NGO is reaching out to artisans and their families in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. They are assessing the community awareness and preparedness as well as providing various levels of relief support. They are taking this initiative to remote places near Bikaner in Rajasthan and Dharampur in Gujarat which majorly has tribal population.

Additionally, to eliminate the spread of Coronavirus, Jaipur Rugs Foundation is conducting on-ground training programmes to create awareness around the importance of physical distancing, masks, vaccines, and other preventive measures. In addition to this, the brand is providing training on home isolation protocols, facilitating online consultation with the doctors, providing medical kits such as oximeters, medicines, thermometers, etc. for prevention and safety. Town hall zoom sessions are also being conducted with artisans.

Currently a network of 5000 artisans across UP, Rajasthan, and Gujarat are benefitting from the foundation’s efforts. Jaipur Rugs is a story of empowered artisans, with a close-knit community of more than 40,000 spread across 600 villages in India. The brand will continue to keep the well-being of its artisans at the helm of its vision and purpose.
