Udhampur: To spread awareness among the common masses about Jal Jeevan Mission, a daylong mega workshop on Water Sanitation and Hygiene was organized by Jal Shakti Department Udhampur in collaboration with project implementing agency Jay Kay Women Welfare Society, Jammu at Community Hall Chenani of District Udhampur.
The workshop was attended by BDC Chairman, Parkash Chand; President Municipal Committee, Chenani Manik Gupta; DDC member, Usha Devi; SDM Chenani, Abdul Sattar; BDO, O P Bhagat; AEE, Chenani Harish Sharma and other officers of concerned departments besides prominent citizens.
Resource person, Rakesh Sharma, gave a detailed power point presentation on water sanitation and hygiene on the occasion.
During the workshop, Artists of Bhartiya Kala Manch Udhampur presented theme based skit on water sanitation and hygiene which was the main attraction of the event.
Addressing the gathering, DDC member and SDM threw light on water sanitation & hygiene. They said that ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ is centrally sponsored scheme launched with the objective to provide tap water to all households. They said that such type of workshops play an important role in educating people about the importance and judicious use of water.
The need to keep water bodies neat and clean and take measures to conserve them for future was also highlighted. They urged the general public to develop water saving habits and use the precious natural resources judiciously to save it for future generations.
