Jamia Hamdard celebrates the 72nd Republic day with patriotic fervour while holding a tree plantations drive and distributions of Blanket

New Delhi: The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated at Jamia Hamdard. Vice-Chancellor Prof. M.A unfurled the national flag and extended greetings to the students, staffs and administration of Hamdard.

The flag hoisting was followed by a programme of music by the students of Jamia Hamdard. They presented the patriotic song to the great applause of the gathered audience. The event was followed by a felicitation ceremony where students were given certificates for their contribution in the field of academic excellence and extra-curricular activities.

While addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof M.A. Jafri highlighted the achievements and performance of the Jamia Hamdard during the current financial year and made a special mention of the sponsoring body Hamdard National Foundation (HNF) and some key steps taken by them to promote the University.

Prof Jafri stated that our Constitution reflects a liberal democracy which has given equal rights to all and is equally rigid and flexible. He congratulated the teachers, members of the Jamia Hamdard and non-teaching staff for working hard and helping the University to get recognition on a national and International level and ensured to provide an ecosystem where faculties and student can work together and help Jamia Hamdard in achieving new heights.

Marking the occasion, blanket distributions to needy and tree plantations drive across the campus was also launched by Registrar Mr Syed Saud Akhtar to create awareness and to promote the motto of Green Campus.

Ensuring that the fervour of patriotism lives on amid the pandemic, Jamia Hamdard this year has also broadcasted flag hoisting and Republic Day celebrations online. This year, the celebrations were a tad bit different as the world moved online.

This year, celebrations have been kept minimal in view of the spread of Covid-19. Guests, security staff, all were sporting masks as prescribed under the safety norms.

The ceremony consisted of the presentation of a Guard of Honour and March past by NCC cadets to the Vice-Chancellor, unfurling of the National Flag accompanied by playing of the National Anthem, speech by the VC and felicitation of students and cadets.

The event was attended by Finance Officer Prof Afshar Alam, Proctor Prof Sarwar Alam, All Deans and HoDs of School, Administrative staffs among others.
