Jamia Hamdard organises webinar on “Caring Heart, Liver and Nervous System” amid SARS nCov2 pandemic and COVID-19

In continuation of Jamia Hamdard COVID-19 Series, School of Unani Medical Education and Research (SUMER ) Jamia Hamdard organized the National Webinar on Caring heart, Liver and Nervous system during SARS nCov2 pandemic and COVID-19. The webinar attracted more than 500 registered delegates which include academicians, researchers, clinicians, scholars, students, Scientists, and medical officers from different parts of the country and abroad including Malaysia Iran, Sri-Lanka, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa.

The webinar was specifically designed to target the ignored issues related to patients who suffer from heart diseases, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, renal diseases, neurological disorders, but with the current corona pandemic and COVID-19 their routine problems and consultation is interrupted. The experts from modern medical sciences and Unani Experts along with reputed Physiotherapists enlighten with their expertise as to how to live with corona pandemic and to take care of illness while staying at home.

Prof. Dr Shridhar Dwivedi, Senior Consultant Preventive Cardiology at National institute of Heart and Former Dean HIMSR who is known for his academic and professional achievements, detailed the measures and methods as to how to take care of known heart problem, hypertension and coronary artery diseases, while staying at home. He lucidly elaborated on the topic “How COVID-19 diseases worsen the condition” as many biochemical storms come into play and hamper the performance of the heart.

Professor M Akhtar Siddiqui, Former Dean SUMER, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi addressed the details of liver disorders and especially the Viral Hepatitis, as a renowned Unani physician who is treating the patients of hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver for more than 25 years, he explained that what measures and management can be adopted to take care of liver patients while staying at home during Corona Pandemic.

Speaking on the lifestyle modification and it’s role necessary for Physical, Social and Mental Health Prof S.M Ali, Former Dean SUMER and NSS coordinator of Jamia Hamdard, gave an insight the facts related to modulation in lifestyle which can ameliorate the Immune system and is by now the only way out to fight with SARSCov2 and COVID-19 diseases.

Dr Sohrab A Khan, Associate Professor and a Senior consultant Physiotherapist at Dept of Rehabilitation Sciences Jamia Hamdard discussed the details of the role of physical exercise and it’s efficacy for not only the physical fitness but also the biochemical parameters needed for perfect mental health.

The Programme was congenially moderated by Dr Khursheed Ahmad Ansari, Associate Professor of SUMER. Organizing Chairman of Jamia Hamdard COVID-19 Series, Dean and Medical Superintendent of Majeedia Unani Hospital Jamia Hamdard Professor Suhail Fatima acknowledged the experts and lucidly concluded by emphasizing on the teaching of Islam for prevention mitigation and management of many diseases including wabaiee Amraz. She also elaborated on the concept of knowledge, the role of personal hygiene, and social-mental health.
