Jamia Hamdard organises webinar on “Potential Unani Solutions for COVID-19” to address ways of tackling current pandemic

New Delhi: School of Unani Medical Education and Research Jamia Hamdard organised the first episode of Webinar series today, on Topic- “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE: POTENTIAL UNANI SOLUTIONS FOR COVID-19” to address ways of tackling the current pandemic by applying various methods and means, an urgent need of the hour.

The Webinar was designed to develop awareness and preparedness to deal with and address the current health crisis posed by COVID-19 to help overcome the situation.

The Webinar saw huge participation which was attended by Doctor, Clinicians, Academicians, Unani specialist and Students from India and aboard. Representation from Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh and the US were noticeable including the students, research scholar and drug manufacturing concerns, also.

The Chief Patron of the event was Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard Prof, Dr Seyed E. Hasnain and Patron Prof Ahmad Kamal, Pro VC, Jamia Hamdard while the Co-Patron was Prof Suhail Fatima, Dean SUMER and MS, Majeedia Unani Hospital.

Prof. Asim Ali Khan DG, CCRUM, Govt of India was one of the key one speakers who spoke on the number of initiatives being carried by CCRRUM, Govt of India to tackle the COVID-19 situation. He highlighted the major points of the advisory of Ministry of AYUSH in treatment, research and e-learning and mentioned various research projects of AYUSH related to COVID-19 will enable Unani fraternity, in particular, to adapt the challenges in future changed due to SARS Coronavirus 2.

The Keynote address was delivered by Professor Asim Ali Khan, DG, CCRUM and member Board of Governors, Ministry of AYUSH, focusing the governmental initiative, practices, research and academic preparedness which will enable Unani fraternity, in particular, to adapt the challenges in future changed due to SARS Coronavirus 2.

Former DG CCRUM and lifetime awardee by Govt of India Professor Shakir Jamil highlighted the management of corona like diseases mentioned in classical literature of Unani System. Prof. Abdul Nasir Ansari, head of Neurology Unit National Institute of Unani medicine comprehensively discussed neuro-habilitation of the patients of hemiplegia, crippling etc.,

Dr Ghazala Mulla of ZVM, college Pune Maharashtra had an impressive insight of antiviral regimes described and prescribed in Unani medicine. She stressed on a very lucid deliberation on Tiryaq E Wabai a very ancient regime for infectious diseases mentioned well in classical textbook of Unani.

The questions were asked by many registered practitioners, academicians and scholars were well satisfied by learned speakers and experts hailing across India.

The Webinar was concluded by Prof. Suhail Fatima, the Dean SUMER, Entire session was well moderated by Dr Khursheed Ahmad Ansari, an Associate professor from Jamia Hamdard and a formal vote of thanks were proposed by Dr Shahid Shah Chaudhary, Asst Professor, Jamia Hamdard.
