Jan Abhiyan: KVK Anantnag & Horticulture Department organise Awareness programme at Kokernag

ANANTNAG : Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag in collaboration with Horticulture Development Department today organised an Awareness programme as part of Jan Abhiyan at Kokernag.

Horticulturists, PRIs, besides Scientists from KVK Anantnag & Horticulture Development Department made their presence in the programme.

Chief Guest of the function, DDC Member, Sagam, Advocate Mohd Saleem Parrey on the occasion stressed for mass awareness about High Density Apple cultivation and all other centrally sponsored schemes for the benefit of the common masses. He asked the concerned department to organise such awareness programmes in future also.

Head KVK Anantnag, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan on the occasion provided detailed awareness to the Orchardists and others concerned about the various aspects of the High Density & Ultra High Density Apple Cultivation. He shared his experience about various dimensions of Horticulture with regard to use of fertilizers, pruning, soil health, marketing and other related aspects.

Earlier, Horticulture Development Officer Zone Kokernag, Peerzada Farhat discussed the importance of High Density & Ultra High Density cultivation of Apple and Walnut. He discussed the benefits of HD&UHD cultivation over traditional Apple cultivation. He also spoke about various other schemes of horticulture in vogue for the horticulturists.

Orchardists from different parts of Kokernag Sub Division shared their experience and problems with regard to HD&UHD Apple Cultivation with the experts and got their doubts cleared.

Among others DDC Kokernag, President MC Kokernag and BDC Chairperson Kokernag remained present on the occasion.
