Jan Abhiyan: Various services being provided to urban populace of Shopian at their doorsteps

SHOPIAN : On the fourth day of Shehri Jan Abhiyan and as part of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ programme, a series of activities were carried out today by different departments of the district.

Tehsildar Shopian Fida Hussain briefed participants about various online services being provided by the department and also distributed land passbooks amongst the beneficiaries at MC complex, Shopian.

Emphasizing on the importance of urban farming, he exhorted upon the public to adopt the modern concept of farming called city farming which does not require large parcels of land and can give larger dividends from the small land holdings with minimum efforts.

The day witnessed a series of Awareness programmes, Distribution of soil health cards, collection of soil samples, door to door vaccination of sheep flocks, cleaning of irrigation canals, plantation drives, special sanitation drives, anti-littering drives and other activities carried out by various departments across all municipal areas of Shopian.

Stalls and registration counters especially artisan registration were set up by various departments at municipal complex Shopian wherein people were apprised about given schemes and beneficiaries were also registered at these counters.

During the event, the public was sensitised about the benefits and importance of cleanliness, sanitation, waste segregation and were urged and motivated to keep their environment neat and clean.

Stress was being laid on saturation of all deliverables of different departments during this ongoing Jan Abhiyan and different departments are making dedicated efforts in this direction and it is being made sure that the last beneficiary in queue gets benefited with the welfare initiatives of the Government.
