Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas observed
ALIGARH : The Department of Munafeul Aza, A. K. Tibbiya College organized a plantation drive to highlight the significance of preserving forests and their role in mitigating global warming and reducing carbon footprint. Numerous medicinal and ornamental saplings were planted in the college premises.
Prof. Ubaidullah, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof. B.D. Khan, Principal, AKTC, Prof. Ashhar Qadeer, Dr. Abdur Rauf, Dr. Saba Zaidi participated in plantation event.
An essay writing competition was held on “Various Tribal and Ethno Medicines around the Globe”, which was judged by Prof. Ashhar Qadeer.
Dr. Afreen Israr won the first prize, Dr. Afreen Ahmed got the second prize and Shahla Khanam received the third prize.
Dr. Aisha Aijaz, organizing secretary, conducted the programme.
At the Department of Linguistics, the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas was observed with an address by Prof. M J Warsi, Chairman of the department who highlighted the historical and cultural importance of the day and emphasized the vital role that linguistic diversity among various tribes plays in shaping the identity of indigenous communities.
The Abdullah School, Aligarh Muslim University organized a series of events to mark the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas 2023, with a special plantation drive by the teachers under the leadership of School Superintendent, Ms. Umra Zaheer.
Ms Zaheer said that the day is celebrated to observe the birth anniversary of great tribal leader and freedom fighter, Birsa Munda, who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country.
On this occasion, speeches were delivered by students in Urdu, Hindi and English. Ariza Aqeel, Taha Zehra, Madiha and Kizba presented a tribal song, whereas Ramsha, Adeeba, Arman, Hammad, Huma, Aizah Aslam and Niyati Pachauri presented a beautiful tribal dance.
Essay writing and painting activities were also organized to spread awareness about the rich history of cultured heritage of tribal community.
The students and teachers at the STS School paid rich tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal leader, while observing the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas. Mr. Faisal Nafis, Principal of the school, appreciated the Government of India for taking measures to uplift the social, educational and economic condition of tribal people and instill in them the spirit of national responsibility by celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas.
The school organized several events to mark the occasion, including a lecture by Mr Nooruzzaman Arshad, painting and art and craft competitions, Quiz and a Nukkad Natak.
