Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas programmes continue at AMU

 

ALIGARH  : The Department of Psychiatry organized an awareness programme to commemorate the rich heritage and contributions of indigenous communities in nation building.

The Chairperson, Prof Veena Maheshwari said it is an opportunity for us to celebrate the role of national tribal heroes, like Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who took a stand against the British rule and his birth anniversary gives us an opportunity to promote cultural diversity, unity, and inclusivity in society.

AMU City Girls’ High School organized several events over the week to celebrate the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas. In a special assembly, Ms Farzana Nazir and Arpana Bhardwaj shed light on the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, adding that the commemorative day gives us an opportunity to create awareness regarding the problems faced by the Tribals and their contribution in the freedom struggle.

The students participated in the Poshan Vatika programme aimed to create awareness regarding nutrition. An Art competition on “Measures adopted to develop the lives of tribal people” was also organized in which Alfiya Naaz, Sana Parveen and Iqra Ghaffar won the first, seond and third prizes, respectively.

The other events included a skit by the students of primary section on “Conservation of forests, the development and welfare of the Tribal people” and a quiz competition on “Our Tribal Heroes”.
