Mumbai : There is nothing like Halloween for children with its spooky costumes, jack-o-lanterns, candies and trick-or-treating. It’s truly a festival that tends to fascinate kids. And bearing this in mind, Khar’s prominent ICSE school – Jasudben ML (JML) School and Bloomingdales Pre-Primary took this as an opportunity to organise activities revolving around Halloween that will help the social and cognitive development of its students. Furthermore, in association with these activities, the school chose the theme #HappyAtSchool endeavoured to promote happiness and cheer with a tinge of spooktacular fun amongst its Pre-primary students.

Students of all grades came dressed to scare in creative costumes. Their teachers shared information about the history of celebrating Halloween and the significance of wearing costumes and trick-or-treating. The children also indulge themselves in magic-painting a bat. Meanwhile, pre-primary students also tend to be intrigued by ghost stories and enjoy them thoroughly even though it scares them. In line with this, the teachers narrated a Halloween story to the Jr KG students and they listened to it raptly. Furthermore, the children also played a game of four corners as well as painted pumpkins, skeletons, skull houses, and more.

At the same time in playschool, teachers read stories, students danced to some spooky songs, and participated in several other exciting and engaging activities to celebrate Halloween. These included painting a pumpkin, colouring a black paper with orange and white crayons, picking out white bottle caps from black-coloured water, and separating black googly-eyes from orange daal. Nursery children also enjoyed several, such as a Halloween dance, watching a Halloween movie, lace-up boards, and sorting letter picture puzzles, amongst others.

JML School and Bloomingdales Pre-Primary always endeavours to help its students inculcate life skills, values and lessons beyond traditional textbooks for an all-around, holistic growth from a young age. And this year’s # HappyAtSchool-themed Halloween activities was  a definite step in this direction.
