Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College records 71.9 percent recovery rate
Aligarh: The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has reached a remarkable breakthrough with a 71.9 percent recovery rate of coronavirus patients, which is 15.9 percent higher than the national recovery rate of 56 per cent.
JNMC has also recorded a marked rise in the successful treatment of Covid19 patients by reaching 71.9 percent from 57.68 per cent on June 18.
“Dedicated efforts of JNMC doctors and nursing staff is behind the steep increase in the recovery rate, however, it is imperative that all Government of India guidelines on various precautions to curb the spread are followed properly and strictly,” said the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.
He added that social distancing is an important response to the pandemic.
“The healthcare community is doing an exceptional job in these tough times and we all need to come together to support the efforts of health workers and government organisations,” Prof Tariq Mansoor pointed out.
Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal, JNMC) said that JNMC, which is a now a government declared Covid L2 facility continues to conduct free-of-cost tests as health professionals are working long hours attending to a number of infected people.
Meanwhile, Vandana, a Covid positive pregnant woman, who gave birth to a healthy baby girl at JNMC has been discharged after recovering from the virus, said Prof Tamkin Khan (Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology).
She added that the woman was refused admission to some hospitals before JNMC came to her rescue. Prof Shaheen, Dr Roshan, Dr Shahina and Dr Shivani along with the OT staff attended Vandana, who was among five other Covid patients to be discharged after successful recovery yesterday.
The other recently discharged patients include Dr Khalaf Saba, a junior resident at JNMC; Dr Danish, PG student; Madhu; Anwar Ali; Waseem Hashmi and Sana.
The discharged patients were under the consultation of Prof S F Haque, Prof R Bhargava, Prof M Shameem, Prof Seema Hakeem, Dr Nazia, Dr U Ashraf, Dr M Aslam, Dr Nafees, Dr Ahmed Wayez, Dr Arif, Dr Junaid, Dr Shafaqat, Dr Farazana, Dr Nader, Dr Maqsum, Dr Dilsha, Dr Danish, Dr Nivedita, Dr Pratayuksha and Dr Arvind.
The departments of radiotherapy, TB and Respiratory Diseases, Paediatric, ENT and Endocrinology have also started free-of-cost, telemedicine and OPD services. Patients can speak to doctors on phone numbers, 0571-2703167, 0571-2703168, 0571-2703169 and 0571-2703170.
