New Delhi : In an atmosphere of clout and colour, JD Institute of Fashion Technology recently demonstrated the flair, dynamism and creativity of its students and faculty at the D-arc BUILD Expo organised in New Delhi. The expo which was organised by Zion Exhibition and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) with JD Institute of Fashion Technology as an Institutional partner was held from 22nd to 25th September 2022 at Pragati Maidan.

The four-day design extravaganza drew participation from national and international brands in the design, architecture, building and construction, and other products and technologies industries to demonstrate innovation, expertise and creativity. The D-arc BUILD Expo provided the ideal platform for organisations to engage in B2B networking, while showcasing their potential by exhibiting new products, services, and offerings.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Harsh Dalal, Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, expressed his delight at the trajectory which the design industry is taking. He said “We provided a superb display and showed why we’re a force to reckon with in the fashion, interior decor, and design industries. Our exclusive fashion show on Day 2 was a masterstroke. We had design installations from our interior design students and garments from our fashion design students on display and the reaction of the audience was very commendable. Platforms like these provide an opportunity to meet other institutions, see what they’re doing, and also receive some sort of feedback and encouragement to students from industry veterans. Giving us the exclusive right to organise the fashion show also gave us the freedom to showcase the creativity and artistry embedded in the students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology”.

The event was attended by seasoned professionals from the art and design industry. Some highlights of the event include the discussion and sealing of deals among organisations, knowledge sharing sessions and detailed products exposition. It was a showcase of the latest trends in design and technology in the fields of construction, infrastructure, architecture and design. About 60 students from the institute also participated in the session facilitated by Mr. Bobby Mukherjee on “Creating New Histories”.

Zion Exhibitors displayed their expertise once more in creating experiences for industrial networking and handshakes, as well as promoting evolving trends in design and technology in the fields of construction, infrastructure, architecture and design, and so on. This time, they pooled together a list of fascinating speakers with proven prestige in their fields. These include Sonali Rastogi of Morphogenesis, Bobby Mukherji of Bobby Mukherji and Associates, K2 India’s Sunita Kohli, and S+PS Architects’ Pinkish Shah, and Abha Narain Lambah of Abha Narain Lambah Associates.

Other speakers include Siddharth Talwar of Studio Lotus, Pinky Pandit of Modus Design Studio, SKJ Architects’ Shimul Javeri Kadri, Nilanjan Bhowal of Design Consortium, Raja Menon of Arcop Associates, Rahul Rewail, Natasha Kohli of Filo Design, and Sudipto Ghosh of S Ghosh & Associates. The Northern Chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) was also on hand as a conference partner.

The JD Institute of Fashion Technology took fashion exhibitions to a whole new level, displaying unique crafts in their simplicity and beauty. For the Institute, events like this also create opportunities for their students to gain much-needed industry exposure as well as knowledge, experience and contacts that they will need in the present and for the future. The remarkable pedigree of the Institute shone brightly, illustrating JD’s status as the pinnacle of creativity and excellence as far as fashion and design are concerned in India.

The expo succeeded in bringing industry experts under a single umbrella to not just showcase their products, but also chart a way forward for arts and design industries, including fashion, interior design, architecture, construction, and several others.
