JD Institute of Fashion Technology starts mental health campaign for students amidst COVID-19 shutdown

New Delhi: The COVID-19 outbreak and the resultant uncertainty has adversely impacted schools and educational institutes across India. With the announcement of a 21-day nationwide lockdown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JD Institute has started a mental health campaign via social media platforms for millennials who are dealing with the pressure of quarantine and social distancing.

Self-isolation and social distancing have caused distress among students and many are in a state of anxiety. To overcome this, the institution has scheduled a series of online interactions with industry experts who will share their expertise on self-care and converse with students about embracing uncertainty and focusing on things that prioritize their wellbeing and mental health. The students can talk through their concerns and feelings to find ways to deal with this quarantine period. The campaign has lots of engaging and relaxing activities for students to keep them healthy and happy.

Ms. Rupal Dalal, Executive Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said “We are going through a global crisis and facing an epidemic situation, therefore this is our prime responsibility to follow the advisory’s guidelines on quarantine and social distancing. Self-isolation can be huge pressure on young minds, but if taken positively, it can also be a period for self-improvement. Therefore, we aim to fill that gap by using social media and help students deal with their emotional and mental pressures.”
