Gurgaon – JK Business School (JKBS), a leading B-School in the country and a member of the prestigious JK Organization which has a legacy of 135+ years of contribution to the Indian economy and the education sector, recently organized an e talk as a part of its leadership lecture series on succession planning. Mr. Viekas K Khokha, Head HR of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd addressed the students on the importance of succession planning in the talent management process. It provides a way to identify key roles, people with the right skills, and positions that may need filling in a short span of time.

Succession planning leads the organization towards the right and appropriate direction of long-term growth. Dhanuka Agritech Limited is a leader in the business of agro–chemicals, fertilizers, and seeds of Dhanuka Group. The company reaches out to more than 10 million farmers with its eco–friendly high-quality crop care products till now. The company’s main target is to strengthen the farmers and their farming practices through modern techniques, tools, and technologies.

The session opens with Mr. Khokha interacting with the students and briefing them about the concept of succession planning. Further, he dived deep into the key factors necessary for succession planning. The way people are treated in an organization is a crucial differentiating factor for the variation in succession planning from organization to organization. Mr. Khokha also enlightened the students about the 5 pillars of succession planning which include job analysis, the quantum of un-programmed decisions, the magic switch, performance management, and development. Mr. Khokha emphasized on the importance of HR policies as they are crucial for the creation of the right environment in an organization

Addressing the students Mr. Viekas K Khokha, Head HR of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd said, “The foremost element of the succession planning is to identify the key people- current leaders and future leaders. Succession planning is not just limited to leaders, as people who have the potential to make a great impact can be present anywhere in the organization. A good recruitment team, for example, is quite an asset to the organization. However, it could be undervalued as a result of the lack of a holistic approach to succession planning. Often companies ignore an internal candidate as they know too much about him or her and choose an outsider as they know too little about him or her. This should be recognized and addressed by the companies. HR policies are crucial for the creation of the right environment in an organization.

Highlighting the importance of these e talks, Prof (Dr.) Sanjiv Marwah, Director, JK Business School, said, “e talks from industry stalwarts act as role models and bring an authentic, vivid picture of the real-world scenarios to students, thereby enabling transdisciplinary learning. Students can get to see the insight and perspective of the industry experts’ specific field .
