J&K Forest’s Endurance cum Fitness Meet starts at Jammu

Jammu: J&K Forest Department kick started first ever J&K Forest Endurance cum Fitness Meet today at Forest Protection Force Ground Sidhra.
The opening ceremony took off today in presence of PCCF & Director Soil & Water Conservation Department, P.K. Singh, PCCF & Director Social Forestry Department, B. Sidhratha Kumar and PCCF, J&K Dr. Mohit Gera.
APCCFs, CCFs, CFs, DFOs besides 300 frontline staff of forest and allied departments were present on the occasion.
The events of the Endurance meet included cross-country run, brisk walk besides games like Cricket, Football, Volleyball and Table Tennis etc.
PCCF J&K, Dr. Mohit Gera said that 48% of the geographical area of J&K is guarded by Forest Department and this job needs above par fit body, mind and soul and in this context such sporting events go a long way to inculcate habit of fitness and team spirit across all ranks of Forest Department.
Director Soil Conservation P.K. Singh and Director Social Forestry Department B. Sidharth Kumar emphasised upon the importance of fitness of mind and body. They appreciated the initiative of Forest Department and its benefit in terms of better efficiency and output of official work.
Eight teams shall participate in this event where each team shall represent a circle headed by respective Conservator of Forests and the selection to the Circle teams have been done through the proper trials, on the basis of past track records in sports and through practice matches. This Endurance cum Fitness meet shall conclude on 3rd of February 2020 wherein more than 100 medals shall be awarded to various winners and runners up, besides a winning trophy to the victorious team.
