J&K youths to be promoted for overseas employment with safety
Jammu: A review meeting with regard to functioning of ‘Jammu & Kashmir Overseas Employment Corporation’ was held under the Chairmanship of Commissioner/Secretary Labour & Employment, Saurabh Bhagat here today.
Director Employment, Yash Paul Suman, Joint Director Employment, Jammu Jyoti Rani Salathia, Additional Secretary Labour & Employment Department, Showkat Ahmad, Deputy Secretary Labour & Employment Department, Surinder Paul Sharma, Assistant Director Employment (Central), Mohammad Rafiq and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was held in the backdrop of New Emigration Bill 2018, which envisaged a Nodal Agency to be nominated by Sates/UTs for safe and legal migration within and outside India. Since Jammu & Kashmir Government has already established Jammu & Kashmir Overseas Employment Corporation which has a mandate of promoting Overseas Employment, Department has been contemplating to propose its designation as Nodal Agency as required under New Emigration Bill.
It was decided that detailed proposals with regard to Reconstitution of Board of Directors of J&K Overseas Employment Corporation, Posting of General Manager Marketing by GAD, Renewal of Registration of the Corporation with competent authority as Recruiting Agency, Establishment of Migration Resource Centre at Srinagar, Updation & Upgradation of Corporations website (www.jkoec.nic.in), Proposal for revision of Skilled Development Initiative, Proposal for facilitation/linking of already registered 1.5 lakh Post-Graduates with Job Market and conduct of awareness programmes at Srinagar & Jammu in the current financial Year, shall be submitted so that the functioning of J&K Overseas Corporation is improved and rejuvenated.
