JKAACL sets-off series of Weekend Cultural Programmes from Mansar

 

JAMMU : Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), under the aegis of the Department of Culture, has launched a series of “Weekend Cultural Programmes” here at Mansar and Surinsar.

These programmes shall provide the local folk artists a platform to display their talent/skill and invariably contribute in attracting the tourists’ footfall to these sites.

The first Cultural Programme in the series began at Mansar Lake today with Dogri and Punjabi folk music performances by Ramesh Kumar & Party, from R.S. Pura, followed by a guest performance of Rinku Kumar, a local folk celebrity, spellbound the audience with his magical voice. Local elected representatives of the Mansar region, the tourists, and the people from in and around the area witnessed the cultural programme.

Dr Gurvinder Jit Singh, CEO, Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority, thanked the UT administration and Department of Culture for the initiative.

The JKAACL is organising the next programme in the series at Surinsar Lake tomorrow. Such programmes shall be organised every weekend at Mansar and Surinsar for the general people and tourists.
