JKVA hosts volleyball exhibition matches to mark I-Day celebration

 

JAMMU : As part of 75th Independence Day celebration, volleyball exhibition matches for boys and girls was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Volleyball Association(JKVA) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, here at playing field Shastri Nagar.

In the girls section Trikuta Club Jammu defeated army children club Jammu by 2–1 sets (score 25–11, 25–27, 15–8). In boys section Pintu Club RS pura beat Pintu Club Jammu by 2–1 sets ( score 22–25, 25–23, 15–11). The players displayed their best skills of the game and inspired the audience with spikes.

Ashu Gupta, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT was the chief guest and lauded the efforts of the volleyball Association of J&K for organising series of events across the UT, including in the remote areas in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.

Pankaj Sharma of Pintu Club Jammu was adjudged last outstanding player of the match and was given a cash prize of Rs.5000 by Raj Daluja dash pattern in chief volleyball Association of J&K.

Dr Zafar Iqbal, chief accounts Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council who was the guest of honour said that the council has drawn up a week long programme in connection with Independence Day celebrations in J&K UT.

Earlier V.K Magotra – general secretary of Volley Ball Association of JK gave an account of association activities being held in JKUT.

Among others present were Kuldeep Malhotra C.E.O, H.S Gill – ex-vice-president, R.C Sharma – treasurer, Manmeet Singh – president Jammu district, Subash Shastri, Manpreet Kaur, Meena Kumari– Executive member of Volley Ball Association of JK, Dalbir Mehta – incharge playing field Shastri Nagar Jammu, Kuldeep Singh, O.P Singh, Satpal khajuria, Gyan Sharma graced the function with large number of sports lovers.

The matches were officiated by Amarjit Singh, Amit Sharma, Bhawna Sharma and Anil Kumar, Naresh Sharma and Mulkha Raj Sharma also coordinated the event.
