JMI faculty member joins Scientific Reports Editorial Board

Dr. Tokeer Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia has been appointed as an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports, a Nature Research journal.
The journal, launched in 2011, is an online, open access scientific mega journal published by Nature Publishing Group covering all areas of the natural sciences in which research papers are solely considered on their scientific validity. Scientific Reports articles are hosted on nature.com, which receives an average of over 8 million unique visitors each month. Scientific Reports is indexed in ISI Web of Science, PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, Google Scholar and SAO/NASA ADS.
The Editorial Board of Scientific Reports comprises experts from all major fields to ensure that each submission is handled by a specialist with an active research career. The Editorial Board manages the peer review process, and takes the final decisions on whether papers should be accepted.
Dr. Tokeer Ahmad did masters in chemistry from IIT Roorkee and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. He is serving the Department of Chemistry, JMI since 2006. He has worked with Bharat Ratna Prof. C.N.R. Rao as Visiting scientist in 2015 and 2016. Apart from his wide research interest on Chemistry of Nanomaterials, Dr. Ahmad is also interested in researching the development of functional nanomaterials for photocatalytic, gas sensing and energy applications.
He has so far supervised five PhDs and currently supervising four Ph.D. scholars. Dr. Ahmad has received seven research projects of worth INR 22.4 Million from DST, CSIR, UGC, JMI innovative programme and one international project from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Ahmad has published 84 research papers in peer-reviewed journals of international repute and authored a book on Principles of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology . His current research citation is 1818 with an h-index of 25. Dr. Ahmad has been anactive life member of various National and International academic societies including American Nano-society.
Dr. Ahmad has received DST-DFG award from Govt. of India (2009), ISCAS Medal (2011) for his significant contribution in Nanochemistry research and has also won the prestigious Inspired Teacher’s recognition from President of India in 2015.
