JMI organizes an Indo-Australian webinar on ‘Formulation and Characterization of Materials & Their Broad Applications for Sustainable Environment and Therapeutics’

New Delhi: The Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised Indo-Australian webinar
on ‘Formulation and Characterization of Materials & Their Broad Applications for Sustainable
Environment and Therapeutics (FCMSET)’ from March 01-02, 2021 followed by Lecture
Series on “Bioderived Materials for Sustainability & Innovations” from March 03-12, 2021
under the aegis of the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration
(SPARC) sponsored as major research project entitled, “Preparation of Nanocellulose &
Nanocomposites as Multifunctional Materials derived from Biomass towards Sustainable
Developments” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) in
collaboration with the University of Queensland, Australia.
The webinar and the lecture series were organised under the supervision of Prof Nahid Nishat,
Head Department of Chemistry as the Chairperson. Dr Saiqa Ikram, Department of Chemistry,
JMI was the Convener of the Webinar and Lecture Series.
The main aim of the workshop was to equip participants with all-around development of
scientific intelligence; balanced and concurrent advancement in bioderived materials
knowledge, capabilities and qualities; to master the features of biocompatable and
biodegradable environmental systems, principle of environmental changing process; to master
the major technology in environmental monitoring, pollution control engineering, ecology
environment restoring; to have ability of team cooperation and international insight, talent to fit
the scientific research, teaching and environmental management for the sustainable future.
Prof. S. M. Ishtiaq, Offg. Vice Chancellor, JMI lauded the efforts of the organizers bringing
laurels to the University (Online Mode) for their Expert Talks to enlighten the students and
research scholars.
Dr. Saiqa Ikram, Convener FCMSET 2021 conducted the inaugural session briefing about the
theme of the webinar to the audience.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Seemi Farhat Basir, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences,
JMI, as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Bhuvanesh Gupta from IIT Delhi delivered Presidential
Address.
The Keynote Lecture was delivered by Professor from the University of Queensland,
Australia. Other notable scientists also spoke on the occasion.
The online lecture series was attended by over 120 participants.
Dr. Saiqa Ikran proposed a vote of thanks.
