JMI’s to conduct a series of training programmes for Delhi Govt. functionaries in foster care
New Delhi: As part of its advocacy and outreach in alternative care of children, Jamia Millia Islamia’s Centre for Early Childhood Development & Research (CECDR) will conduct a series of training programmes for Government officials engaged in alternative and foster care starting from tomorrow.
The training programmes are being held in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Delhi. All members of the statutory Child Welfare Committees and District Child Protection Officers and their staff would be trained in various aspect of alternative care such as family preservation and strengthening, legal provisions with respect to adoption and foster care and deinstitutionalization.
The CECDR has developed several standard operating procedures for foster care that would be shared with the trainees according to Prof. Zubair Meenai, Hony. Director, CECDR.
It is hoped that once these officials and functionaries are trained, they would be able to carry out their roles and responsibilities in a more focused manner and in accordance with the Model Guidelines, 2016 to ensure that all children get the home environment that they deserve, he said.
