JN Medical College,Aligarh Muslim University to start DM (Cardiology)

Aligarh: The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, a frontline hospital of western Uttar Pradesh, today achieved another milestone as its Department of Cardiology has been sanctioned two seats of DM (Cardiology) by the Medical Council of India (MCI). An inspection by MCI was carried last month. It is the second super speciality course started by the JN Medical College. It already has an MCH course in Plastic Surgery.

The MCI team was highly impressed by the current infrastructure and progress of the Department of Cardiology This is a monumental achievement in the history of the Aligarh Muslim University as this super speciality course will go a long way in providing a fillip to the efforts of the Department of Cardiology, AMU, Aligarh, to further amplify the state of the art services to a large number of heart patients and will breed more trained Cardiologists to cater to the increasing demand for Interventional Cardiologists all over the country.

It is the realization of a long-fetched dream of AMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor who has been working relentlessly in this direction, with determination and zeal. The creation of the Department of Cardiology and establishment of advanced Cardiac CathLab is also completed under his auspices.

Prof M U Rabbani, Chairman, Department of Cardiology, expressed gratitude to Prof Tariq Mansoor for his persistent efforts in providing essential infrastructure to start this prestigious course. He also thanked Prof R Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui, Principal and CMS, JN Medical College for their persistent efforts in expediting the process.

He said that the Department of Cardiology that came into existence months ago, has emerged as a premier centre for interventional Cardiology. Since the installation of cardiac Cath Lab 4500 procedures including Coronary Angioplasty and Advanced Pacemakers have been done providing enormous help to a large number of heart patients.

Prof Rabbani, a leading cardiologist of the country said that the DM Course at JN Medical College will make headway in the perfect direction.
