JNMC faculty delivers keynote address

Aligarh: Prof Syed Ziaur Rahman, Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) spoke on importance of Materiovigilance Programme in the Country and to direct clinicians and healthcare professionals to report the medical devices adverse event to MvPI-Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC).

He was delivering the keynote address at the online National Webinar on Pharmacovigilance of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy Drugs (AYUSHSURAKSHA 2020) organized by the Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centre, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore and sponsored by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

In another online National Symposium on ‘Pharmacovigilance during Covid19’ organised by the Medical College of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad; Prof Syed Ziaur Rahman spoke on the importance of pharmacovigilance of Remdesivir, a broad-spectrum antiviral medication drug originally investigated for the treatment of Ebola and Marburg virus infection.

He said that the Remdesivir was also considered for the treatment for Covid19 because of its ability to have activity against coronaviruses.

However, Prof Ziaur Rahman warned that the drug should be used cautiously on elderly patients.
