JNMC faculty receives FACS degree

Aligarh : Professor Afzal Anees, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has become the coveted Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) degree. It manifests that his education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have been found to be consistent with the standards established by the American College of Surgeons.

Professor Afzal Anees, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), Fellow of Association of Indian Surgeons (FAIS) and Fellow of Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) also hold the FACRSI and FIAGES qualifications.

GI surgery, colorectal surgery, laparoscopy and endoscopy are his thrust areas and he has done more than 6000 open and laparoscopic surgical procedures and over 2500 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies.

Prof Anees heads the Colo-rectal Special Clinic at JNMC.
