JNMC faculty receives ISA Academic Excellence Award

Aligarh: Professor S Moied Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, J N Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been conferred with the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) Academic Excellence Award for significant contributions as teacher, researcher and clinician in the field of anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine.

He was awarded during a special felicitation ceremony of the 67th National Conference of ISA at Bangaluru.

Prof Ahmed was instrumental in bringing out Indian Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). He authored the guidelines, published by Indian Journal of Anaesthesiology with other renowned experts from across the country. Prior to Indian guidelines, CPR in India was carried in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA).

At the 67th National Conference of ISA, Prof Ahmed provided the participants of the workshop on Difficult Airway Management with hands-on-training in Emergency Cricothyroidotomy and Ultrasound assessment of Difficult Airway. He attended the workshop as the main resource person and was assisted by Dr Abu Nadeem, Department of Anaesthesiology, JNMC.

Prof Ahmed also delivered a didactic lecture at the conference attended by over 60 delegates from all over the country in which he presented case studies of difficult airway and their management. He also judged a paper presentation competition on the occasion.
