Johns Hopkins University: Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Patients to Benefit from More Than $1.3 Million Raised at Mix 106.5 33rd Annual Radiothon

With the support of generous donations from listeners and others, Mix 106.5’s 33rd annual Radiothon raised $1,361,137.33 for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. The final total from the event, which took place last week, was announced on the radio station on Monday, Feb. 28.

“Radiothon is such an important event for everyone at the Children’s Center,” says Margaret Moon, M.D., M.P.H., co-director and pediatrician-in-chief at the Children’s Center. “Whether you donated or helped in another capacity, we are incredibly thankful for all of the generous support from this event, as well as to Mix 106.5 and our volunteers and staff members who work tirelessly to make this event such a success every year.”

Funds raised during the yearly two-day broadcast go toward the purchase of life-saving medical equipment, support patient care, fund research, develop innovative tools and programs, and bring toys, books, games and art supplies to patients.

“Whether children are undergoing chemotherapy, recovering from an illness or just getting a routine checkup, thousands of pediatric patients visit the Children’s Center each year,” says David Hackam, M.D., Ph.D., co-director and pediatric surgeon-in-chief at the Children’s Center. “Funds from events like Radiothon help providers and staff provide the best possible care and participate in groundbreaking research, while offering children a sense of enjoyment when they may be going through a challenging time in their health.

Since the first Radiothon in 1990, more than $26 million has been raised for the Children’s Center.
