Joint Controller reviews working of LMD in districts
Jammu: The working of Legal Metrology Department in Jammu division was today reviewed by Joint Controller, Legal Metrology here at a meeting.
The Officers from all the Districts attended the meeting where the Joint Controller reviewed the working of the department in each district.
It was informed that an amount of Rs. 90.84 lakh was realised as Stamping fee, while 1299 traders were booked for different offences under Legal Metrology and PCR laws. Similarly an amount of Rs 52.00 lakh was recovered as composition sum from 1198 traders for violation of laws governed by the department.
Several other matters were discussed during the course of the meeting. The Joint Controller directed the District officers to follow the directions issued by the Government from time to time and act swiftly to the complaints and grievances received from different quarters in the interest of General Public. He also directed the officers to install various consumer awareness camps in their respective districts for educating the general masses. The Chair directed all the district officers to celebrate the Republic Day with enthusiasm and illuminate the office buildings.
