‘Josh is High’ for Amity University Students at the Career Awareness Campaign Organized by the Indian Air Force

 

Responding to the call of ‘How’s the Josh?”, a celebrated dialogue of the 2019 movie ‘Uri- The Surgical Strike’, hundreds of Management, Engineering and Law students responded with ‘Josh is High’ during the career awareness campaign organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Amity University. The second edition of the campaign was organized by the IAF along with Amity Law Schools’ Corporate Resource Center (CRC) that provided a great learning experience to the students of all the three domains.

IAF conducts these awareness programmes in various institutions all across the country to propagate career and induction related information. An Induction Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV), developed by IAF in 2015 was also put on display. Students got a hands on experience in the IPEV having a flight stimulator, glasstron, aircraft models, display of flying clothing and other youth oriented gadgets intended to demonstrate various facets of the IAF.

DISHA (the publicity cell under the Directorate of Personnel Officers at the Air Force Headquarters) Team under the leadership of Wg Cdr Sneha Singh conducted this awareness campaign where students of all the three domains interacted with the IAF Team and also got hands on experience in the Flight Simulator.

“The defense forces exist in the country as we want to be war ready,” shared Wg Cdr Sneha Singh elucidating about the inception of IAF to the students. Sharing details about the 7 roles of IAF including Air Defense; Offensive Operations; Military Logistics; Attack Helicopters; Aid to Civil Authorities and Casualty Evacuation, she also educated the students about the advantages and the need for having joint operations with the Army and the Navy for maintaining peace and harmony in the country. She also informed the students about the various qualifying exams for entering into Air Force and eligibility criteria for all of them including UPSC (NDA and CDSE), AFCAT, MET, NCC and SEC. She also briefed students that there are three branches of Indian Air force where they can apply as per their age, physical attributes, qualification, inclination and interests including “Flying”, “Technical” and “Ground Duties”.

Wg. Cdr. Sailesh Sharma, JAG (Air) encouraged law students to opt for the Air Force and informed the students about the Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch and how administration and legal justice system is handled by this branch. He also encouraged students to develop team spirit and the valor to fight relentlessly for the country. The students also got a glimpse into the professional challenges, high degree of job satisfaction and the unmatched quality of life in the IAF.

Gp Capt A K Saxena-Head- Corporate Resource Centre, Amity Law Schools welcomed the distinguished panel from IAF and shared how Air Force offers a wonderful career opportunity to the students if they wish to touch the skies of success. Students from the three streams were enthused to know about the emerging career options in IAF apart from the combat roles and showed their willingness to be a part of the services.
