Journalists have given creative direction to the society with their thoughts and writings:CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today felicitated the Senior Journalist and Residential Editor of English daily ‘The Hitavada’ Mr. EV Murli with 20th ‘Vasundhara Samman’ in a brief prestigious ceremony at his residence office. This award was established in the memory of Late Mr. Devi Prasad Choubey and is being awarded for creating public awareness for last 20 years. Vasundhara Samman Samaroh is organized on the occasion of ‘punyatithi’ of Late Shri Devi Prasad Choubey. Chief Minister felicitated Mr. Murli with shawl, coconut and certificate. At the onset, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel paid tribute to late Shri Devi Prasad Choubey by garlanding his picture.
Culture Minister Mr. Amarjit Bhagat presided over the function. Public Health Engineering Minister Mr. Guru Rudra Kumar, MLA Mr. Mohan Markam, son of late Shri Deviprasad Choubey- Mr. Pradeep Chaubey, Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Chaubey, Senior Journalist Mr. Ramesh Nayyar, President of Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation Mr. Arun Vora, Indira Arts & Music Vice Chancellor of University Khairagarh Mrs. Mamta Chandrakar, retired IAS officer Mr. BKS Ray, litterateur and senior journalist Mr. Girish Pankaj and Mr. Girish Muktibodh, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Ruchir Garg were present on the occasion. The ceremony was organized by Lok Jagran’s magazine ‘Vasundhara’ in collaboration with the Government of Chhattisgarh, Culture Department and Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Foundation.
Talking about the personality and literary work of late Shri Devi Prasad Choubey, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that late Mr. Choubey was a true Chhattisgarhiya with simple and friendly nature. He always fought for the interest of farmers, labourers and poor people. He did not only work in rural areas but also had an impact on politics of Durg district.
Chief Minister said that Journalists have done various significant works for the society and the nation. Journalists have given a creative direction to the society with their words and thoughts. He added that most people rely on newspapers and electronic media, but presently our generation form opinion based on social media content. Mr. Baghel said that there are many rules and regulations for print and electronic media, but there are no such arrangements for social media. There is no training or regulation compulsory for social media. The trolling practice is trending on social media. Some people are habitual of making negative comments to discourage others, this is the reason why good thinkers and sensitive people are leaving social media platforms such as twitter and facebook. New generation is getting misled through social media, and it is important to think about ways to stop it. Historical facts should not be misrepresented. Creating history is great but trying to misquote and misrepresent is unfortunate.
Culture Minister Mr. Amarjeet Bhagat presided over the programme and said that late Shri Devi Prasad Choubey worked hard for taking Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies to villages. His contribution in Padyatra and literature has been significant. He was also the MLA of undivided Madhya Pradesh. Vasundhara Samman is conferred on his death anniversary. He said that Vasundhara Samman is being organized in collaboration with Culture Department on August 14 in compliance to the last year’s announcement of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel.
Chairman of Vasundhara Samman Adjudication Committee and senior journalist Mr. Ramesh Nayyar said that late Shri Devi Prasad Choubey upheld the Indian tradition in which politics and journalism ran concurrently. Mr. E.V. Murali said that as Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement had a wider impact on freedom struggle of the country, likewise Godhan Nyay Yojana launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will also have far-reaching positive effects. The Godhan Nyaya Yojana will prove to be a major scheme for making villages of our state self-dependent.
The program was conducted by the convenor of Vasundhara Samman Committee Mr. Vinod Mishra. Chairman of the organizing committee Mr. Arun Srivastava was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister also released the 49th issue of Vasundhara magazine on the occasion. Proper guidelines for corona infection prevention were followed while conducting the programme.
