JSD organizes training programme for PRI members, officials at Bandipora

Bandipora: The Jal Shakti Department (JSD) on Monday organised a daylong training programme for members of Panchayat Raj Institutions in Bandipora district.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated the training session while Joint Director Planning, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other PRI members besides other officers of the district were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the basic objective of the programme was the Capacity Building of PHE officials about drinking Water Testing Procedures, Water Conservation Techniques and Management Principles.

He laid stress on the importance of contamination free water in our daily lives and appreciated the department for taking efforts in educating the masses.

He expressed his deep concern regarding the diseases caused by the contaminated water and said that the water testing at Panchayat level shall help the people in identifying the water quality so that the government can act in case water quality is not up to the mark to save people from catching water borne diseases.

He expected that the training programme would prove beneficial for the better performance of the trainees and for the welfare of the society with respect to water testing quality and monitoring in their concerned localities.
