Jyoti Koushal adjudged best Singer in devotional song Competition

 

UDHAMPUR : To commemorate, Krishna Janamashtami, the Department of Music, Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur today organized an Inter-College devotional song competition through virtual mode, here.

The Principal Prof Minu Mahajan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The Principal, while speaking on the occasion, complimented the music department for holding the religious event and expressed gratitude to the people on the special occasion.

She said that the contest has enabled the students to showcase their talent on a common platform, which would help them in building self-confidence.

Students from various colleges of the Jammu Kashmir UT participated in the devotional song competition.

In the competition, Jyoti Koushal from GCW Udhampur was adjudged best singer, Anjali Bhagat from GCW Gandhi Nagar bagged 2nd position, while third position was shared by Poonam from GDC Reasi and Sudesh Kumari from Dogri department Jammu University. Shabnam Chawla from GCW Udhampur, Ridhi Verma from GCW Udhampur and Kriti Badyal from GCW Udhampur were given consolation prizes.

Earlier, Head of Department Music, Associate Professor, Dr Seema Sharma said that these types of events provide a platform to budding singers and prepare them for future challanges.

The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panel of experts in music including Assistant Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, Assistant Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Assistant Prof Yash Kumar.
