Mumbai : Children’s Day is celebrated across the world on different days to honour children globally. In India, it is celebrated on November 14, on the birthday of the first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru. It is a tribute to Nehruji, who gave emphasis to the significance of giving love and affection to children and considered them as the bright future of India.

Students and teachers of Kanakia International School, Chembur celebrated Children’s Day with loads of zeal and enthusiasm. Teachers decorated the classes with learners favourite cartoon characters. The school had also organised “LOCAL FUN FAIR FOR OUR LEARNERS”. The kids indulged in games like Puzzle with Timer, Bowling with A Glass, Place the Face Correct, A Minute to Win It, Feeding Me, Bowling, Ring Throwing Games and Hopscotch. Carnivals are appealing to kids of all ages. Setting up a carnival in the classroom gives learners a chance to practice their skills while having fun. Many classic carnival games lend themselves well to all the teaching concepts. Winners of each game were given gifts.

Talking on the occasion, Ms. Anupama Pandey, Head of Academic – Preprimary, Kanakia International School, said, “Creativity seems to emerge from multiple experiences, coupled with a well-supported development of personal resources, including a sense of freedom to venture beyond the known.”

The institute also gave the learners a theatrical experience, where the teachers distributed movie tickets to watch Chillar Party. The movie is a potpourri of all the emotions that one feels when they are kids. The film is a perfect mix of comedy and drama, and teaches some of the most important life lessons to the elders, who, while running a rat race, often lose their humanity. The kids had an interval session too during the movie time where the teachers gave them refreshments – just like they would experience in a real cinema hall.

Children’s Day not only brings excitement for the little ones, but for a while, the parent and teachers can also forget about their life worries and live a day in a way they used to when they were kids. KIS wishes all the young learners across the globe a very Happy Children’s Day!
