Karlsruhe Institute of Technology: Two KIT research projects receive BMBF funding – test phase of the joint project “Innovation Platform MaterialDigital” started
The joint project “Innovation Platform MaterialDigital” , funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and coordinated by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), is now entering the next phase. The aim of the platform is to develop a digital infrastructure for materials science research data in order to systematize and standardize the handling of material data. A total of 13 BMBF-funded research projects use the platform, check it and add requirements for its materials. These include “LeBeDigital” and “DigiBatMat”, two projects with KIT participation and a term of three years.
The “LeBeDigital” project, located at the Institute for Solid Construction and Building Materials Technology at KIT and funded with 1.4 million euros in the overall project, establishes a fully digital process for describing the material behavior of concrete over the entire industrial production process. The aim is to develop an innovative process for optimizing a special precast element made of high-performance concrete.
The project “DigiBatMat” with participation of the KIT junior group “Knowledge Graph-based Artificial Intelligence Systems” at the Institute for Applied Computer Science and Formal Description Processes is funded with 2.3 million euros in the overall project and aims to create a digital platform based on knowledge graphs for the management of Develop data on battery materials. Quality predictions should be made possible through machine learning and the analysis of various parameters.
