Karmesh Gupta: 24-year-old entrepreneur from Rajasthan makes it to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2020 list

Jaipur: Karmesh Gupta, 24-year-old, born and brought up in the small city of Alwar, Rajasthan has been named among the Forbes 30 Under 30 2020 Asia list. The Cyber-security serial entrepreneur made his way to the Enterprise Technology category.

Losing his father at an early age of 14 made him start early in his life. Karmesh’s active interest in Cyber Security and his zeal for entrepreneurship lead to the establishment and success of WiJungle.

WiJungle is a Jaipur-based cybersecurity firm that develops and markets Unified Network Security Gateway products for private and government organizations. Currently, WiJungle safeguards the data and network of hospitality, education, BFSI, healthcare, defense, retail, smart cities, ITES, and transportation sectors. WiJungle serves the Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Defence and the Hyatt.

On winning this title, Mr. Karmesh Gupta, Co-founder, WiJungle, said, “I am overwhelmed with this prestigious recognition I have received from Forbes. I never wanted to be a part of the corporate rat race and decided early in my life that I want to be an entrepreneur.”

In 2017, when Karmesh was just in his early 20s, he founded WiJungle with his 26-year old cousin Praveen Gupta. Now, the company serves the unified network security gateway across 27 nations. Currently, WiJungle is the only prominent player in the Unified Network Security domain across the globe! As of the last quarter of 2019, the team has protected over 20 million users across the globe.

In June 2019, Karmesh lead the WiJungle team to win the Frost & Sullivan’s New Product Innovation Award of the Year in Cyber Security for Middle East, Africa & South Asia (MEASA) region. In early 2020, the WiJungle team, under the leadership of Karmesh, won the NITI Aayog supported the prestigious Aegis Graham Bell Award for their contribution in the field of Innovation in Cyber Security.

Karmesh has been a successful serial entrepreneur, although his journey from his first entrepreneurial venture in 2014 to 2020, 30 under 30 list has been far from smooth. He saw the failure of his first startup that aimed to provide completely free Wi-Fi service for Jaipur.

It was a significant setback, but his zeal to succeed spearheaded new ideas and ventures. His second venture was successful, but the massive telecom revolution going on in the country thwarted their social Wi-Fi product in 2016. They had to shut operations within 2.5 months.

However, by then, Karmesh had already tasted success and that finally led to the conception and establishment of WiJungle as a successful, Gartner-Listed AI and ML-based unified network security gateway product.

A few other Indian entrepreneurs who have been named in the same category are from startups like CogniTensor Technologies, DronaMaps, GoComet, Discovr.AI, SkyEye, Setu, Orignal4sure, Openapp and, Playment.
