Kathua admin gears up to implement Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme for PwD

DC discusses modalities with stakeholders

 

KATHUA : Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today discussed the modalities for smooth implementation of Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme (Under National Trust for the welfare of person with Autism, Cerebral-Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999) here at a meeting held in the conference hall of DC office complex.

The Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme covers Health expenses of the eligible persons to the extent of Rs. 1 Lakh, which includes hospitalization charges, OPD charges including tests, treatment etc.

At the outset, the District Social Welfare Officer apprised the meeting regarding the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme, which provides affordable Health Insurance to persons with disabilities. This scheme has been launched by the National Trust which comes under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

The scheme is being implemented in the district through the NGO – Muskan Foundation, Vijaypur, Samba.

The DC directed the concerned officers of Health, School Education, Social Welfare, FCS & CA, ICDS, and Information to work in tandem to create awareness regarding the scheme so that needy and deserving beneficiaries get the benefits of the scheme.

It was apprised that 86 cases of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) have been identified across the district through a survey conducted by the Social Welfare Department.

The DC exhorted upon the stakeholders to work out a mechanism for holding camps where the process of registration of PwDs is to be held at nearest possible Health centres for their convenience.

The CMO was directed to conduct an exercise for examining the disabilities of identified beneficiaries by organizing camps at CHC level. He also called for ensuring UDID registration of the beneficiaries requiring disability certificates.

The DC further impressed upon all concerned officers to sensitize the public regarding the documents required for the process of registration besides disseminating information regarding the benefits available under the scheme.
