Kathua DC launches plantation drive along National Highway

Kathua: In continuation to Green J&K drive-2020, the Social Forestry Division, Kathua today carried out a Plantation drive here at Barnoti and Barwal morh along the National Highway.
District Development Commissioner, O.P Bhagat, participated in the plantation drive along with the BDC Chairman Barnoti, Brijeshwar Singh.
The DDC appreciated the role of the Social Forestry department in increasing the Green cover of the state and emphasised the need to carry out more such Plantation drives for a clean and healthy environment and meeting the needs of the local people.
The DFO Social Forestry Division, Kathua, Munish Bhardwaj, informed that the department is putting in extra efforts to achieve the set targets by organising such plantation drives throughout the monsoon season in different areas. He said the department is also involving the members of the PRIs and local people for effective results.
Around 200 saplings of different broad leaf, shade bearing and Fruit bearing species were planted.
Range Officer, Social Forestry Kathua, Shakti Dutt Sharma; staff members, Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Mai Chak, Sarpanch Panchayat Tarehra and Sarpanch Panchayat Ghatti also participated in the Plantation drive.
