KBPH Campaign: KVK Bandipora Organises Kisan Mela

 

BANDIPORA : Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora Tuesday organized Kisan Mela (Farmers Fair) under Kisan Bhagidhari Prathmikta Hamari (KBPH) campaign at KVK Campus Potushai, here.

Farmers, rural youth and school children from different villages of the district participated in the fair.

Stalls were installed by the Kendra and line departments showcasing achievements and latest technologies.

On the occasion, Farmer-Scientist interaction was held during which experts from KVK and line departments interacted regarding farm related activities.

Dr. Hilah Ahmad Malik Scientist KVK Bandipora in his welcome address highlighted the essence of such programmes for the awareness of farming community. He also highlighted the technological breakthroughs made in different crops by SKUAST – Kashmir followed by location specific testing by different KVKs for the benefit of farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. G.A.Lone stressed upon the participants to benefit from various schemes of the department for economic and nutritional security.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Ahanger emphasized the role of sheep farming in economic upliftment of rural folk in the district.

Dr Nuzhat Wali, Sheep and Wool Development officer Hajin, highlighted various welfare schemes of Sheep Husbandry.

Shakeel-ur-Rehman, District Subject Matter Specialist gave a brief overview of horticulture department and importance of Horticulture in Kashmir’s economy.

Block Veterinary Officer Bandipora, Dr. Mohammad Ramzan gave a brief on the activities of Animal Husbandry department in Bandipora.

Incharge Apiculture Bandipora, Mir Imtiyaz explained the benefits of Beekeeping as enterprise and also in horticulture.

Champion Vegetable farmer Azad Hussain Bhat shared his experience with the audience during the event.

Dr Tariq Sultan Scientist KVK Bandipora highlighted the institute’s contributions in the transfer of technologies and skill development of rural youth in the district.

Scientists from KVK, Dr Tahir Saleem and Dr Nazir Ahmad Mir also interacted with the participants.

Dr Nusrat, Incharge Soil Testing Laboratory Bandipora, Dr Tanveer-ul-Hassan, Incharge Mushroom and officials from department of Floriculture, Fisheries, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Sheep husbandry were also present on the occasion

Participants demonstrated great enthusiasm for the Mela and were satisfied with the arrangements.
